Texture Landscape Art – kids online workshop!

We had our online kids holiday workshop last week on creating a texture Landscape. Student’s made a texture base in the first session of the workshop and the base needed to dry overnight. So we had a second session on the next day to plan on the landscape designs. I gave them some examples of abstract silhouette designs and they chose their pattern from the list, also being creative to add some interesting details!

Students had more texture base to work on another landscape too! Look at the wonderful texture and the beautiful blend of colours here!!

Kids Online Art workshop-Creating patterns – Galaxy Art!

My Online Class for kids Art this week was creating a Galaxy Artwork using the textures and patterns that we created using a special technique. As opposed to my concerns about getting the patterns without my personal presence, kids just went through the whole process effectively. We created the patterns twice on separate sheets, to make sure there are enough base in case the first attempt didn’t make-through. But to my surprise, they got beautiful prints on both attempts!

The last step was of course cutting out the planets and creating their own Galaxies! See what they got! Natural textures resembling real planets!! It always makes me proud to watch their giggles and smiles, when they explain what they have created & how they enjoyed the session!!

Card making workshop online, it felt great connecting with kids after a long time!

I was a little skeptical about conducting classes online thinking that kids need personal help for various reasons, including the different materials that they have to buy themselves (previously I was providing the materials). I have many requests for personal classes and still I think it is very stressful for parents with all the safe distancing measures in place, so I decided to start with online platform like Zoom for now. It was fine and I hope to continue with this set-up for sometime before resuming with full personal lessons. Kids enjoyed a crafty workshop today to keep themselves occupied during these holidays!!

Had a wonderful Deepavali at National Gallery, the reason being I got an opportunity to transform an intricate idea into a simplified visual reality. This custom designed mosaic Rangoli was conceptualised and designed to entertain the kiddie visitors, of course it was delightful to see my design coming to life in the little hands. It was indeed very well received !!

Started our drawing lessons with Dinosaur subjects – Brachiosaurus and Stegosaurus…….also learning how to add depth and volume with charcoal shading……..then came the interesting texturing lesson on getting realistic skin textures on the T-Rex…..very well received!!

“Moving Waves” – Earlier this year, I made a simple handmade mechanical toy for my son Ritu……he designed the waves, diver, ship and the front side…..we both learnt together many little things to make it work. He used this for his “Show and tell” session in his school. He’s very proud of this toy.
